Luxe, calme et volupte…

An Inconvenient Truth

>>My Memorial Day wakeup call was Al Gore's new movie.

Gives you a crystal-clear idea of exactly what the downside is/will be

if we do nothing about global warming. And somehow manages to

be entertaining and engrossing throughout, on a topic that might

seem excessively dry…or wet, important as it surely is.

>>The persona Al Gore displays in this film is so much less wooden

than the 2000 candidate, it makes you realize all over again what

we lost by 'electing' the incumbent. Gore introduces himself to

the audience in the film as 'the man who used to be the next

President of the United States.' Big laugh. Charming.

>>Reassuring that, if Hillary Clinton chooses not to run, there is at

least one completely plausible Democratic candidate out there.

Saw the film at the ArcLight Cinema on Sunset, the best place

to see a movie in the United States, IMHO. I thought I was

going to see X-Men3, but misplaced myself, since the nearest

X-venue was Hollywood & Highland. Serendipitous, because

An Inconvenient Truth came as even more of an unexpected

pleasure.

Ava Gardner

>>To feed my cheap-thrill movie jones, since I didn't get

to see the X movie yet, I walked across the street to the

Borders Bookstore on Sunset and Vine and bought the new

Ava Gardner biography, Love Is Nothing. Now that was a

beautiful woman…
